Solar System Unit: Quranic Verses Posters and Vocabulary Cards
Assalam Alaikum,
Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alteration of the day and night, there are signs for people of reason.
(Al-e Imran 3:190)
Whenever I start a science unit with my daughter, I always try to look up Quranic verses that would integrate with the topic. I do this in the hopes that we use the Quran as our primary point of reference when it comes to anything in life. I hope and pray our children to learn to reflect upon these beautiful verses from a young age, and they feel a connection with the word of Allah. The visual element helps not just my daughter but for myself too in truly appreciating these incredible signs of Allah.
I put together all the verses of the Quran that mention anything pertaining to the solar system. The verses have been divided into topics and the translation of the Quran used is The Clear Quran by Dr. Mustafa Khattab.
Additionally, I also made Quranic vocabulary cards in which I picked common words from the verses related to the Solar System. The idea behind this is to make children more comfortable with Quranic Arabic. The cards can be used to play various games between multiple players. I have included an instruction guide/game suggestions in the printable.
You can laminate the cards and posters for additional durability. I use the scotch laminator that works perfectly for 3mm and 5mm sheets. Although scotch sells their own laminating sheets, I bought the least expensive ones that work great.
